I'm OVER Apple's Spotlight search function 👎🏼

I’m always looking for new tools to improve my workflow. Maybe it’s a habit I’ve picked up from working in tech, maybe it’s from being a YouTuber and always looking for new things to share with you, but honestly I see it as a bit of a hobby.

Over the last couple of months, I’ve been trying out Raycast, a replacement for Apple’s (crappy) Spotlight search function. I used to use Spotlight religiously to open applications and do calculations but I find it to be clunky and sometimes really slow.

Raycast however, has been a lightening fast replacement for that, AND it has has way more functionalities.

Some ways I’ve been using it are:

  • opening up applications
  • calculations
  • performing actions with apps like Notion, Spotify, and more
  • taking down quick floating notes
  • resizing and organizing windows

I wrote a new blogpost with details on how I use Raycast and my final thoughts about it, so if you want to read through that, you can find it here.

Otherwise, if you want to try Raycast, their free version lets you use all of those functionalities and more so you can find it here.
